Nativity story reaches Arizona
I just arrived home from an enjoyable trip visiting my parents in Green Valley, Ariz., approximately a half hour south of Tucson. I attended Christmas Eve services with family at my parent's home church. The pastor began his sermon with, "Does anyone know where Wadena, Minn. is?" A number of people raised their hands and he began telling the story of a disgruntled individual who felt that the city's nativity scene should not be displayed in the public park. The pastor then went into the text of his sermon on the meaning of Christmas. Towards the end of the sermon message he said, "Now I'll tell you the rest of the story." He spoke about the outcome with the City Council, the sale of the nativity to the ministerial association and the wonderful reaction of its residents in rallying together and displaying multiple nativity scenes around the city.
I work in Wadena and I can tell you how extremely proud that I was able to proclaim that I was from the Wadena, Minn. area.

Athletes should have college degrees
Is life really fair when gifted athlete like Kobe Bryant, Lebron James and Joe Mauer get lucrative contracts without college education? I would suggest the NBA commissioner and baseball commissioner require that all the professional players be required to have a legitimate college degree. Is it fair to the non-athletes who spend over $100,000 to get a college degree and then have a difficult time finding a job?
Secondly, there is no such thing as free college education. The Democratic candidates want to give free college tuition to those attending college. The taxpayers will have to pay those bills. Free college tuition is a ploy by the Democrats to garner more votes. Obamacare has been a failure as private industry is more efficient. Anything given freely is seldom appreciated.
