Your Letters: Grandparent program could use you

I am writing this as a Foster Grandparent at the Wadena-Deer Creek Elementary school. I've been participating in this program for the past 10 years. I call it my "life line" because of the support, friends, and it gives me something enjoyable to do.

I am writing this as a Foster Grandparent at the Wadena-Deer Creek Elementary school. I've been participating in this program for the past 10 years. I call it my "life line" because of the support, friends, and it gives me something enjoyable to do. I especially enjoy working with children that need extra support or a listening ear and sometimes a hug. It gives me something to look forward to each day and a wonderful reason to get up in the mornings. It's fun to see a child's face when they understand or learn a new skill. Even after they go to Middle School and I see some of them I still get hugs. It's great to know I can make a difference in even one child's life.

Are you 55 or older? Are you looking for something meaningful to volunteer for 15 hours or more per week? The Foster Grandparent program could use you.

There is a small stipend paid by Catholic Charities, plus mileage, training, and meetings once a month.

If interested, please contact Jon Knoplik at 1-866-895-7992.

Sincerely
