Today while walking, I walked by the cemetery. There was a graveside service in progress, and the VFW rifle squad was present to fire a final salute. So I offered my own silent salute, also to a fallen comrade.
Whenever you veterans see something like this, wherever you travel this summer, stop and get out of your vehicle, come to attention, and offer your final tribute to your comrade.
Someday maybe someone will return the honor to you.
The members of the rifle squads are seemingly always there, and their loyalty to the VFW and American Legion is appreciated.
