Zigan: Celebrating less joint pain with 500th joint replacement at Tri-County Health Care

Even though work can become routine, I always remember that every time we complete a surgery, we’ve changed someone’s life for the better. We’ve given them a life with less joint pain.

Carla Schwantz, right, became the 500th joint replacement recipient at Tri-County Health Care when she had her bilateral knee replacement surgery in December 2021. Prior to scheduling, she worked extensively with Dr. Ben Robertson, left, on options and possible treatments.

After many busy days filled with surgeries and appointments, we did it, 500 joint replacements. Even though work can become routine, I always remember that every time we complete a surgery, we’ve changed someone’s life for the better. We’ve given them a life with less joint pain.

The 500th joint surgery went very well, and that outcome is commonplace because our team is experienced and we pride ourselves on excellent care. I want to thank our team for always putting patients first and rising to the challenge. I feel very blessed to be part of this achievement. Dr. Ben Robertson has worked hard to build the joint replacement program at Tri-County Health Care and we are surrounded by outstanding healthcare professionals that helped make this milestone possible.

I also want to thank our patients. It takes courage to go through a total joint replacement, especially during this time of change.

I’m looking forward to 1,000. Thank you.
