How many cars can someone sell at the end of the driveway without having a "dealer" license?
Question: How many cars can someone try to sell at the end of the driveway without having a "dealer" license?
Answer: The law pertaining to a "dealer license" talks about the limit of vehicles a person can sell without needing that license. Minnesota State Statute 168.27 sub. 8 says; "A person is limited to the sale, purchase, or lease of not more than five motor vehicles in a 12-month period.
As far as where a person is selling them, much of this will depend on the local zoning ordinances. I advise you to check with you local city, county or township about how many vehicles you can sell on your property. Vehicles are not allowed to be sold from rest areas, park and rides, and within the highway right of way.
A portion of state statutes were used with permission from the Office of the Revisor of Statutes.
