Milton Larson

Milton was born to Herbert and Matilda Larson on May 17, 1923 in Garfield Township, Polk County, Minnesota. there he attended county school and grew up in rural Fertile. Graduating with the Fertile High School class of 1940. After graduation he attended what he called “Cow College” at the University of Minnesota. He was drafted into the Army in June 1945. He served in Germany and after being honorable discharged he returned to the family farm in 1946 where he dairy and crop farmed. After the loss of his father Milt and his mother wintered in the San Francisco area and would return to Fertile where he drove beet truck and also continued to crop farm.

Milt enjoyed traveling with trips to Scandinavia, Russia and Turkey. Milt was a quiet man with a great sense of humor and an easy laugh with a genuine interest in others. While he had no children of his own, he enjoyed his nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. He was well read and curious about many topics from farming and mechanics to world politics. He loved photography, poetry and classic music.

Milt married Marjorie Murdock in 1998 and lost her to cancer in 2011. In 2012 milt moved to Wadena and lived with his niece, Ann and her husband Eldon Immonen. In May of 2017 milt moved to Fair Oaks Lodge until the time of his passing. He was proceeded in death by his parents and wife, brothers Harold and Earl, sisters Edith, Clarice, and Diane. His is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was a lifetime member of the International Organization of Good Templers, Yggdrasil Lodge #38 of Fertile, MN and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1902 Crookston, Minnesota and very active in the Minnesota Farmers Union.

There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date and internment will be at the Little Norway Church in Rural Fertile. Military Honors will be provided by the Elmer Goche V.F.W. Post #3922 of Wadena, Minnesota.
