The funeral service celebrating the life of Kenneth “Ken” Anderson of Wadena will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wadena, with Pastor Nate Loer presiding. Visitation will be held at the Johnson-Schuller Chapel in Wadena on Friday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. and will resume at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

Kenneth, age 81, passed away on September 24, 2022, at Mills Manor in New York Mills, MN.

Kenneth was born to Bert and Clara (Samuelson) Anderson on April 14, 1941, at Henning, MN. He was a 1959 graduate of Wadena High School. Ken was in the first graduating class of the Wadena Area Technical Institute, now MState, and later served on the tech College Advisory Board for several years. He worked for Hart Press in Long Prairie before moving back to Wadena. He retired from Mason Brothers having worked there for over 40 years.

Ken married Gloria Kingsley October 20, 1962, at St. John Lutheran Church in Wadena, where they made their home and raised their family. Ken loved his family and always wanted to take care of them. His grandchildren were special to him, and now great-grandchildren completed his being.

In earlier days Ken loved to fish and hunt. For years he bowled in several leagues and in numerous tournaments. He was a horseshoe pitcher and once again participated in many tournaments, even pitching to Second Place in his class at the World Horseshoe Tournament.

Being community-minded, Ken was a member of the Wadena Jaycees, and the Wadena and Bluffton Lions Clubs, eventually serving as 5M9 District Governor 1996-1997. He was a Melvin Jones Fellow and proud of it. For six years he was a Board Member of Lions MD5M Hearing Foundation and was dedicated to working with the youth in the Lions Leo program. In addition, he was a longtime member of the Wadena Elks Lodge and Immanuel Lutheran Church having served as Treasurer for two pastors.

Preceding Kenneth in death were his parents, Bert and Clara; and two great-grandchildren.

Ken will always be remembered by his loving wife, Gloria; children: Debra Olson of Moorhead, Kelly (Russell) Bain of Wadena, Scott (Leslyn) Anderson and Gregg Anderson both of Fargo, ND; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Virginia Warwas of Luck, WI; along with a host of family and friends.

Burial will be in Wadena Cemetery, Wadena, MN.
