Funeral Services will be held for Karen Tichy on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Karvonen Funeral Home in Wadena, Minnesota with Pastor Vaughn White officiating. The pallbearers will be Ryan Campbell, Tim Nieminen, Kevin Steuck, Darrick Miller, George Kveton, Brent “Bunt” McManigle, Mitch Alhers, and Bill Leehy. Karen will be laid to rest in Zion Cemetery, Bertha, Minnesota.

Karen Lee Suhl was born on May 12, 1948 in Muscatine, Iowa. Her parents were the late Bernard and Hilda (Eggebraaten) Suhl. Karen graduated from the Coon Rapids High School with the class of 1967. She attended the Wadena Vocational Technical School where she studied accounting. Karen was employed at Orton’s, Red Owl, Walmart and Kenny’s Candy. She also worked at the Fair Oaks Lodge in Wadena, the Elders Home in New York Mills, and the RDO in Park Rapids.

On April 12, 1980 Karen was united in marriage with Raymond James Tichy at the Assembly of God Church in Verndale, Minnesota. They resided in Wadena and in 1980 made their home on the family farm in Germaine Township, rural Bertha, Minnesota. In 1997 they made their home in Wadena.

Karen’s biggest joy in her life was spending time with her grandchildren and attending truck & tractor pulls her family participated. She loved Christmas and especially collecting snowmen. Karen had a tender heart as she enjoyed working with people, especially as a caregiver.

On March 16, 2022 Karen passed away at the Knute Nelson Nursing Home in Alexandria, Minnesota at 73 years of age. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Preceding Karen in death were her parents, Bernard and Hilda Suhl; siblings: Robert Suhl, Ronald Suhl, Lester Suhl, Edward Suhl and Lois (Suhl) Parr.

Karen is survived by her loving and caring husband of 41 years, Raymond Tichy of Wadena; children: Robert Broich, Rhonda (Mike) Kleinke and Ryan Tichy; grandchildren: Brittani (Tyler) Schwartz; Brayden Kleinke; and Bryanna Kleinke; and great-grandson: Bentley Schwartz.
