The memorial service celebrating the life of Jon Paul Cary of Wadena will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Schuller Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service’s Johnson-Schuller Chapel in Wadena. Friends will be gathering at the Johnson-Schuller Chapel one hour prior to service time on Saturday.

At the age of 58, Jon died with family by his side at the hospital in St. Cloud, MN, on Saturday, November 12, 2022.

Jon Paul Cary was born to Donavan and Amy (Olson) Cary on December 20, 1963, in Browerville, MN. He graduated from Bertha-Hewitt High School and went on to Staples Technical College for Culinary Arts. He stayed busy with his own lawn service, Jon’s Lawn Service, at Otter Lake.

Jon loved fishing with his father. Many afternoons were filled with trips to Donald Lake sun fishing or winter fishing on Otter Lake. In the fall, he enjoyed duck and deer hunting. He and his father were always late for hunting. Even though Jon loved hunting, he loved sleeping in more! Jon was never as proud as the day he shot his one and only deer, a small basket buck.

After his father died, Jon and his mother continued to live at the lake and support each other for many years. When his mother died, Jon came to live with his brother and sister-in-law. By 2016, he moved into the Oakridge group home where he enjoyed all the activities and special events. He had quite a collection of model classic cars. Watching western movies, especially ones with John Wayne, was a favorite pastime. Being at the lake, relaxing and listening for the loons brought him joy. Jon was good-hearted and loved his family very much. His devilish smile will be missed by those who called him brother, uncle and friend.

Preceding Jon in death were his parents, and sister, Diane.

Memories of Jon will remain with his brother, Timothy (Deb) Cary of Wadena; nephews Michael (Lisa) Cary and Matthew (Megan) Cary; along with great nephew, Devin and great niece, Greta.

Burial will be held at a later date in Green Lawn Cemetery, Verndale, MN.
