Funeral Services were held for Evelyn Ruth Schweiger, age 99 of Wadena, Minnesota on Monday, October 24, 2022, at Karvonen Funeral Home in Wadena with Pastor Jim McGaffey officiating. Music was provided by Deb Nelson with Wesley Schweiger reading of a song and little talk of memories. Pallbearers were: Jamin Schweiger, Darren Schweiger, Genty Schweiger, Jesse Spartz, Ron DeVault, and Frank Spartz. Evelyn was laid to rest at Wadena City Cemetery, Wadena, Minnesota.

Evelyn Ruth Trosen was born on April 2, 1923, at home in Inkster, North Dakota. Her parents were the late Herman and Grace (Hulst) Trosen. Evelyn completed Country School through the 8th grade in rural Larimore, North Dakota. In 1939, at the age of 16, she attended classes at the Holiness Methodist School of Theology in Minneapolis. She graduated with a degree in theology in 1943.

On May 24, 1946, Evelyn was united in marriage with Wayne Schweiger at the Ardoch Holiness Church in Ardoch, North Dakota. Their marriage was blessed with 6 children: Jerry, David, Wesley, Kathy, Connie, and Thomas.

Over the years, the made their home in many places across the United States, including Phoenix, AZ, Niangua, MO, Ardoch, ND, Valley City, ND, and Kindred, ND, North Branch, MN, Burtrum, MN, Motley, MN, and Wadena, MN, Prairie Farm, WI, and Ridgeland, WI, and So. Sioux City, NE.

In 1978, Evelyn and Wayne permanently made their home in Wadena where Evelyn was employed with Todd-Wad County Energy Electric Corporation at the afterhours telephone service, retiring in 1994. Wayne passed away on October 8, 1987. In 1995 Evelyn made her home at Humphrey Manor where she enjoyed baking cookies for the other residents and guests. She also loved playing games and reading, especially reading her Bible every day. She also enjoyed attending extracurricular activities at Humphrey Manor.

On October 15, 2022, Evelyn passed away peacefully at her residence in Wadena at 99 years of age. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, Herman and Grace Trosen; husband, Edward Wayne Schweiger; infant sister; siblings: Robert (Gladys) Trosen; Ferd (Ruth) Trosen; Dirk Trosen; Herman (Alice) Trosen; Bernice (Robert) Geiser; Doris (Jim) Lanz and Grace (Leonard) Freetag.

Evelyn is survived by her loving children: Jerry (Vicki) Schweiger of Dakota City, Nebraska; David (Monica) Schweiger of Montevideo; Wesley (Susan) Schweiger of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; Kathy (Frank) Spartz of Wadena; Connie (Ron) Devault of Wadena; Thomas (Georgia) Schweiger of Watertown, South Dakota; 13 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 12 step great grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; siblings: Jack (Grace) Trosen of Wadena; David Trosen of Verndale; Janice Carlson of Wadena; Janet (Charles) Lamason of Eureka, Missouri; sister-in-law, Phyllis Trosen of Wadena; many other relatives and a host of friends.
