Dorothy G. Roes

Dorothy Georgene Roes passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones, March 25, 2022. She was cared for in her home by family and hospice. Dorothy was born October 3, 1927 to George and Esther (Johnson) Laugen in Bemidji, MN. They moved to San Francisco where she graduated high school.

On September 2, 1950, she was married to James R. Roes at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wadena. They were blessed with four children. Sadly, she became a widow at 33 years old when Jim suddenly passed away on April 8, 1961. Dorothy devoted her life to loving and raising her children. She carried that love forward to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a smart, brave, kind woman of faith. She was active in her church and volunteering. She enjoyed baking, cooking, listening to music, reading, exercising and flower gardening.

Dorothy is survived by her children George of Maple Grove and Huntington Beach, CA, Joanne (Bob) Isaac of Moorhead, MN, Patty (Lynn) Johnson of Ada, MN, and Susan (Mark Hermison) Roes of Afton, MN.

Grandchildren include: Tom (Jill) Isaac of Moorhead, MN; Tyler Roes (Gricel Berry) of Maple Grove, MN; Matt Isaac of Moorhead, MN; Jim (Erin) Johnson of St. Louis Park, MN; Bobby Isaac Moorhead, MN; Chuck (Tera) Johnson of Ada, MN; Mark Roes of Portland, OR; and Paul (Alyssa) Johnson of Ada, MN.

Great grandchildren include: Brock, Kylie, Laney, Esley, Eva and Lou.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Moorhead, MN, and Ethos Hospice.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 31, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., followed by the memorial service at 11:00 a.m., in the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Moorhead, MN.

Interment will be at Wadena Cemetery in Wadena, MN, at a later date.
