Myrtle “Gail” Tappe
The funeral service for Gail Tappe of Wadena was held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 6, 2020 at Schuller Family Funeral Home’s Johnson-Schuller Chapel in Wadena with Jim Stoneman presiding. Burial was in Wadena Cemetery, Wadena, MN.
Gail passed away at the age of 85 on Sunday, December 29, 2019 at the Fair Oaks Lodge in Wadena, under the tender care of Heartland Hospice.
Myrtle “Gail” Jordan was born to Garald and Elfriede (Rekow) Jordan on October 21, 1934, at their farm home in Kensett, IA.
Gail completed her education and graduated from Wadena High School with the Class of 1952. She met Leroy Tappe and they were married on October 20, 1967 in Rapid City, SD. Gail worked as an accountant assistant. Then with LeRoy, she owned and worked as a waitress at their Palace Cafe in Wadena and then owned the Wadena Area Travel Agency. Gail and Leroy traveled extensively to ensure their customers knew about the highlights of their destinations. Gail was always interested in horses, and enjoyed having coffee everyday with LeRoy and friends at the Boondocks or Wal-mart. Gail was a member for over 48 years with the VFW Women’s Auxiliary in Wadena. She was active and supported LeRoy in various other veteran organizations and supported Multiple Sclerosis charities.
Gail was preceded in death by her devoted and beloved husband Leroy on October 13, 2017; parents Garald and Elfriede; and brother-in-law Duane Brunner.
Surviving Gail are her sisters Glea Brunner, and Gean (Lee) Breitsprecher both of Iowa; nephew John (Tracy) Brunner; along with several great-nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers were Sue Volkmann and Charlene Moenkedick.
Serving as pallbearers were Tim Volkmann, John Brunner.
