Gerald Ohman
The funeral service for Gerald “Jerry” Ohman, of Wadena, will be held privately with Pastor Nate Loer presiding.
A public visitation with family and friends will be held at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wadena, on Friday, October 23, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
Jerry, age 90, passed away with family at his side on October 15, 2020, at the Fair Oaks Lodge, Wadena, MN.
Gerald, known as Jerry, was born to Charles and Edith (Backberg) Ohman on January 10, 1930, in Deer Creek. Jerry attended Deer Creek High School and graduated as Valedictorian.
On June 13, 1953, Jerry was united in marriage with Vera Sadie Peterson in Eagle Bend.
After spending the first few years of their marriage on the family farm, Jerry had a successful career as a sales manager for Gambles, Inc. and the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, traveling Eastern South Dakota and managing independent dealerships across Northern Minnesota and North Dakota.
In time away from work, Jerry was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed all that the Minnesota lake country could offer. He loved taking his family camping, out on the boat and fishing. He was part of a bowling team for 50 years and an active member at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Preceding Jerry in death were his parents Charles and Edith Ohman; siblings, Wallace Ohman and Charlotte Hagen; and beloved aunt and uncle, Art and Ebba Ohman.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife Vera; children Gerald “Punk” (Mary) Ohman of Glenham, SD, Larry (Suzanne) Ohman of White Bear Lake, MN, Jeffrey (Lisa) Ohman of Grand Forks, ND, Lori Zimmerman of Stevensville, MT, and Cheryl (Jay) Olson of Sioux Falls, SD, along with 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and sister, Phyllis (Jim) Carpenter, La Verkin, UT.
Burial will be at Compton Lutheran Cemetery, Compton Township, MN.
