Carol Thurston

Carol Joyce Thurston (Ellingson) passed away on June 20, 2021 at the age of 63. She was born to Elmer and Beatrice Ellingson of Wadena, MN and graduated from Wadena Senior High School in 1975. Carol spent time in Florida, Texas, and Virginia before returning to the Wadena area in 1993. Her family is grateful to the staff at Knute Nelson Care Center, where she spent the last years of her life. Carol is survived by her children Tara (Roxanne, Sawyer), Byron (Christine), Dana (Allison, Gage), BoDean (Kim, Holly, Henry, Hudson), and Benjamin. She is also survived by her siblings Byron (Char, Monica, John, Deidre, Ryan), Lou (Mark, Eric, Laura, Amber, Matt), Dean (Chelsie, Brock), and Scott (Lynn) along with nine great-nephews. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul Thurston, her sister Barbara, and her partner David Ness. A celebration of life is expected in summer 2022, details to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in her name to her beloved Black’s Grove Park located in Wadena.
