Funeral services for Barbara Ann Stave, age 83 of Deer Creek, will take place at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 7, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Deer Creek with Pastor Donald Wagner presiding. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 12:30 PM until the time of service. *The family asks that attendees wear masks at the visitation and service due to Covid 19.

Barbara Ann passed away on Friday, December 31, 2021, at her home with family by her side and under the gentle care of Knute Nelson Homecare and Hospice.

Barbara Ann was born to Johann and Ruth (Block) Tjaden on April 10, 1938, in Morton, MN. She was united in marriage with Kessell Oliver Stave on August 28, 1956, at the First English Lutheran Church in Staples. They made their home in rural Deer Creek where Barbara Ann raised their children and enjoyed tri-chem painting, quilting and other crafts. She was a talented baker and cook, who also enjoyed feeding birds and wildlife. She made the first Chrismon ornament for the church’s Christmas tree, and participated in the Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Quiet time included reading and doing puzzles. Barbara Ann also worked outside their home at Super Valu, Homecrest Ind, RD Offutt, and will be remembered in the community as a cook at Lucky Bees and the Junction Café.

Preceding Barbara Ann in death were her husband, Kessell (2019); daughter, Deborah Henry (2012); parents, Johann and Ruth; siblings, Byron, Burdette, and Burdean Tjaden, Jeanette, and infants Burton and Otto; and in-laws, Roy and Clara Stave.

Barbara Ann is survived by her devoted son, Daniel (Betty) of Hewitt; grandson, Jason Henry and son-in-law, Bob Henry, both of Evansdale, IA; siblings Bernard (Bonnie) Tjaden of Willmar, Joyce (Bill) Markham of Mascatine, IA, Ruthann Harguth of Maynard, Bradley Tjaden of Detroit Lakes, Burl (Faye) Tjaden of Montevideo, Johannah (Joel) Holland of Odin, Judith (Ronald) Wulf of Sacred Heart; and Luke Tjaden of Maynard, along with several nieces and nephews.

Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Deer Creek, MN.
