WATCH: Live shows streaming from Hockey Day Minnesota

BEMIDJI, Minn. -- Before the puck drops on Hockey Day Minnesota, learn more about the teams, players, coaches and the state of the game by tuning into The Rink Live's shows, which will stream live from Bemidji on Thursday and Friday afternoons.

Mick Hatten, the Forum News Service sports editor and a long-time college hockey writer, will interview guests during shows at 1 and 3:30 p.m. both days.

The Rink Live's Streaming Schedule


1 p.m. -- Brian Bissonette, media coordinator for Bemidji's local organizing committee, and Deb Pfaff, president of the Bemidji Area Chamber of Commerce, will talk about the city's efforts in preparing and hosting Hockey Day Minnesota.

3:30 p.m. -- Michigan Tech men's hockey coach Joe Shawhan will talk about his team's appearance in a weekend matchup against Bemidji State University, which will host the Friday night game on the outdoor rink. High school girls' hockey coaches Chris Lepper of Woodbury and Mike Johnson of Bemidji also make appearances to discuss the state of Minnesota girls hockey and talk about the game between their squads Thursday night.


1 p.m. -- Minnesota Hockey executive director Glen Andresen will join Hatten to talk about several topics related to hockey in Minnesota. Afterward, BSU coaches Tom Serratore (men) and Jim Scanlan (women) will discuss college hockey.

3:30 p.m. -- Andover High School Coach Mark Manney, whose No. 2-ranked team will face off against top-ranked Minnetonka on Saturday, will be joined by Bemidji High School Coach Eric Monsrud and Greenway Coach Grant Clafton to participate in a panel discussion about issues and topics important to high school hockey, including the impact of college recruiting and students leaving their hometowns early to play junior hockey.

Also streaming on The Rink Live on Thursday afternoon will be the weekly University of Minnesota men's hockey press conference. Coverage from the Gophers' media availability will be streaming on The Rink Live's main channel. Both channels are available at the link above.

Steve Wagner

As Forum Communications' director of content, Steve Wagner serves as the point person for content strategy and projects for the company's 30-plus newspapers. He oversees operations of Forum News Service, a regional wire provider to more than 100 newspapers, and guides newsroom collaboration between The Forum newspaper and WDAY TV.  Wagner also conducts training related to content, reporting and newsroom advancement.
