A Sebeka woman was charged Oct. 28 in Wadena County District Court with two counts of dangerous weapon discharge for firing a 30-30 in Verndale city limits and shooting a neighbor dog.
Katrina Marie Huhta, 22, admitted shooting the dog after it had come over to her relatives' property from a neighboring property. She and others at the residence said the dog, which was a 6-month-old lab-husky-boxer mix, had become increasingly aggressive. Huhta allegedly spotted the dog on the property line, got her gun and waited for it to cross over the line, then shot it, court documents said.
The incident occurred July 23.
The two charges relate to firing a gun within the city limits of a municipality and endangering public safety. Both are felonies.
A court hearing was set for Nov. 15 on the matter.
