Darin Carstens got scoring from 10 players Monday night as the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines defeated Pelican Rapids 68-57 for their 10th victory in 15 decisions.
"We didn't play very well and Wadena played extremely well," Pelican Rapids head coach Shawn Gravalin said. "They were bigger, faster, stronger and older than we were and that is what showed in the game last night."
Courtney Volkmann paced the Wolverines with 24 points while Kendra Grothmann canned 13.
Kendra Coleman netted 17 points for the Vikings and Haley Hoyer added 12 before the pair fouled out. The loss dropped the Vikings to 6-8.
The Wolverines will host Pine-River-Backus Thursday and Mid-State rival Detroit Lakes Friday.

The Bertha-Hewitt Bears sank six treys Friday night in snapping the Wolverines' four-game winning streak.
Morgan Kapphahn and Jessica Finck combined for five treys and 31 points in the victory.
The Wolverines fell behind by 14 in the first half but rallied to trail by only a single point at halftime, 25-24. Darin Carstens' club took a five-point lead over the Bears with seven minutes to play but the Bears controlled the game the rest of the way 17-5.
"Overall, I thought we played good defense and rebounded very well but we need to shoot the ball better than we have been, especially with playoffs not too far away," Carstens said.
Courtney Volkmann poured in 25 points for the Wolverines. Volkmann hit three treys while Kendra Grothmann added two. Senior Jordan Moenkedick, who suffered a sprained ankle in a victory over Staples-Motley, returned to the lineup for the first time since Jan. 16.
