The Wadena-Deer Creek volleyball team is seeded second in the south half of Section 8AA playoffs and will host seventh-seeded Frazee in a 7 p.m. game Thursday, Oct. 23.
Other first round match-ups Thursday will see No. 1 Perham hosting No. 8 Fergus Falls, No. 4 Breckenridge hosting No. 5 Detroit Lakes and No. 3 Staples-Motley hosting No. 6 Pelican Rapids.
East Grand Forks is seeded No. 1 in the north half of Section 8AA while defending section champ Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton is seeded No. 2.
Tournament action will continue Friday, Oct. 24, with sub-section finals slated for Tuesday, Oct. 28.
WDC gridders to battle Bulldogs

The Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines are seeded seventh in the Section 6AA football playoffs and will travel to Henning Tuesday for a 6 p.m. game with second-seeded Otter Tail Central.
Top-seeded Pierz will host No. 8 Long Prairie/Grey Eagle, No. 4 Morris will host No. 5 West Central Area and No. 3 Breckenridge will host No. 6 Holdingford.
Unbeaten Pirates ranked No. 1
The undefeated Verndale Pirates are ranked No. 1 in the Section 4, Class Nine-man playoffs and have received a first round bye.
The Pirates will host the winner of No. 4 Bertha-Hewitt and No. 5 Underwood Saturday, Oct. 25, in a 7 p.m. game.
Second-seeded Hillcrest also has a first round bye. The Comets will host the winner of No. 3 Eagle Valley and No. 6 Ashby Saturday at 7 p.m.
The Section 4 finals are slated for 12:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at the Fargodome.
Verndale girls to host Menahga

Verndale has earned the No. 4 seed in the Section 5A volleyball playoffs and will host No. 5 Menahga in a 7 p.m. game Thursday, Oct. 23.
The winner of the Verndale-Menahga match will face top-ranked Nevis Friday, Oct. 24, in a 7 p.m. game at Nevis.
Section finals are set for Nov. 1 at a site to be determined.
