More than 7,000 Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) members, advisers, alumni and guests from across the country gathered in Washington, D.C., July 5-10 for FCCLA's 2015 National Leadership Conference.
This conference was themed, "Together We Are Stronger,.. Ready,.. Family,... Healthy."
The national conference challenged participants to confront the issues youth are facing today by gaining the necessary skills through leadership development and competitive events. Over 4,000 of the students took part in FCCLA's competitive events and 31 students ran for national FCCLA officer positions.
The fundraising community service opportunity benefited "Share Our Strength." This past year, FCCLA collaborated with "Share Our Strength" to fight childhood hunger by raising funds and awareness. The organization will collaborate with" Lead 2 Feed" in the upcoming year.
FCCLA competitive events took place with over 4,000 students from across the nation competing for top honors in over 40 Family and Consumer Sciences related events. Wadena-Deer Creek FCCLA member Jessica Langer earned the opportunity to compete in the Job Interview category where she received a gold medal.

Hope Norenberg, Minnesota FCCLA Vice President of Communication, attended the conference as Minnesota's candidate for national office. She advanced to the top 20 finalists through a rigorous process of tests, interviews and on stage questioning.
