Several Wadena-Deer Creek Schools staff volunteered their time at the Leaf River Area Habitat for Humanity house located in northeast Wadena (behind the former Medicine Shoppe). The house is starting to take shape as school volunteers helped finish the framing of the house to prepare for the next step -- adding the roof.

WDC staff said they found the construction work very rewarding and energizing. Workers enjoyed a cool and comfortable day to work outdoors, too. Volunteers also provided lunch and beverages to fortify the workers.

Volunteers from the school included staff from the District Office, administrators, school board members and their family members. Staff used vacation time to volunteer at this effort.
