Wadena-Deer Creek's prom is returning to the historic Memorial Auditorium this year, for an elegant evening with a grand march, catered dinner, dance and post prom party.
Students will gather for the prom, with the theme "When Stars Go Blue" on Saturday, April 28. The theme, taken from a popular song, goes along with the colors, which will be dark blue, light blue, silver and white.
Prom will be back at the elementary school this year and everything will be at Memorial Auditorium, said Dawn Foss, a prom advisor. She and Steph Drange, also a prom advisor, have been working with a committee of junior girls on this year's prom.
The annual prom event used to be at the elementary school but was at the high school for several years. Now, grand march, dinner, dance and post prom will be at the elementary school. The Uptown will cater the dinner for students at the elementary school.
"It's an elegant location, with everyone dressed up," Drange said.

To accommodate the dinner, the grand march has been moved up an hour. The public is welcome to attend the grand march, which is at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. There is a cost. Pictures will be before grand march and family members are asked to take pictures before grand march rather than after because the meal will be served immediately following grand march.
The dinner will be set up like a wedding reception in the gym behind the auditorium stage, Drange said.
Post prom will again be part of the evening activities. It is a party held immediately after the dance at the elementary school. Prom-goers will have the opportunity to sumo wrestle, stick to a Velcro wall, play inflatable dodge ball, bowl, play "Dance Dance Revolution" and "Guitar Hero," and eat more food, among other activities.
"Most kids go [to post prom]," Foss said. "It's included in the price of the ticket."
"It's so much fun," Drange said.
Post prom lasts until 4 a.m. and is organized by junior parents.
