Darin Carstens' Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines came out hot and never looked back.

The Wolverines got double figure scoring from five players for the first time this season Tuesday night in a 72-59 victory over Mid-State Conference foe Pequot Lakes.

The Wolverines went on two nine-point runs in the first half and took a 40-27 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The victory ultimately did more for Detroit Lakes than either WDC or Pequot. The Lakers claimed the Mid-State title by virtue of the Wolverine victory.

Kendra Grothmann nailed a team-high 13 points for WDC while Brigetta Berg scored 12, Steph Perkins netted 11 and both Courtney Volkmann and Jordan Moenkedick came up with 10.
