Wadena-Deer Creek FFA member Jacob Goeden recently placed second in the FFA Region II Dairy Placement Proficiency. Goeden’s placing qualifies him for competition at the State FFA Convention, April 27 to 29 at the University of Minnesota, St. Paul campus.

Goeden’s placing is based on a lengthy application documenting his activities on his dairy placement on his family’s home farm, Goeden Dairy of rural Wadena. This placement is part of the FFA’s Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) where a student keeps records of their agricultural experiences.

His experiences include milking of Goeden Dairy’s 100 Holsteins, production of hay and crops, and keeping of DHIA records. At the region level, Goeden had interviews with several Region II FFA advisors on his FFA involvement, SAE experience, along with interviews on his finances including investments, balance sheets and net worth statements.

A senior at WDC High School, Goeden’s future plans are to attend North Dakota State University, Fargo, for agricultural engineering. He is the son of Kevin and Gail Goeden. Goeden’s FFA advisor is Richard Muckala.

Region II FFA is made up of 19 schools located in the northeast third of Minnesota. FFA includes classroom education, contests or Career Development Events (CDEs), and proficiency in more than 38 different agricultural areas.
