Wadena-Deer Creek boys golf team finished third in the second Mid-Minnesota Conference golf meet on April 27 at the Vintage Golf Course.
Matt Kramer was one stroke off medalist honors with his low score of 41. Jon Taves carded a 45 and Brennen Truax shot a 47 to lead the Wolverines to a team score of 237, six strokes behind second place Park Rapids with 231.
Staples-Motleys Brandon Myers captured medalist honors with a 40 while teammates Derek Orth and Ben Duhn each carded 42 as the Cardinals boys golf team took first place with a team score of 214.
Wolverines Andrew Browne carded 51; Nolen Buresh, 53; and Donny Tabery, 54; to round out the rest of the scoring.
After two Mid-Minnesota events, Staples-Motley leads with 56 points. The Wolverines are second with 36.5. Park Rapids Area is third with 31, and Menahga-Sebeka is fourth with 11.5.

The Wolverines finished 11th with 366 team points in the 19-team field at the Fergus Falls Invitational on April 24.
Truax carded an 84 to finish ninth individually to lead the Wolverines. Truax was three strokes over par in the front nine with 39 but then had trouble in the back nine, shooting a 45.
Kramer went 46-47 for 93; Taves carded 46-46 for 92; and Tom Novak 47-50 for 97 to count the top four scores for the Wolverines. Michael Schmidt went 52-52 for 104, and Browne was one stroke behind at 52-53 for 105 to round out the rest of the WDC scoring.
Another busy week is shaping up for the boys golf team starting with the third Mid-Minnesota meet on Monday in Park Rapids before traveling to the Crosby-Ironton/Pequot Lakes Invitational at Deacons on Wednesday. Friday, the Wolverines will be at the Park Rapids Invitational at Headwaters before closing out the week at the Vintage in Staples on Saturday.
