An approximately $20,000 early estimate to install 90-foot water lines to the Wensman Building surprised members of the Wadena County Board.
"I thought we had to get water lines just to the end of the building," said Commissioner Lane Waldahl.
"That's what we voted on," said Chairman Bill Stearns.
The architect and plumber asked for an estimate for lines that would extend halfway into the building, said Cody Yglesias, maintenance worker. They said the lines should go under the heated portion of the building according to a floor plan that Tony Stoll of Baker, Hogan and Houx Architecture and Planning will provide.
The county wants to install water lines this spring to accommodate a possible remodel of the Wensman Building while the adjacent road is dug up during a reclaiming project.

Stearns said the county should probably get an estimate for what it would cost to bring the lines right up to the edge of the building.
The cost would be a lot less to do that, said Maintenance Superintendant Rudy Yglesias.
The building already has adequate sewer lines, Cody Yglesias said.
