Walter E. Battreall, 92, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, in Peoria, Ariz.
He was born March 21, 1914, in St. Joseph, Mo. As a little boy, his family moved to Muncie, Ind., and later to Monticello, Ind., where he finished his education and met Marda Risser, whom he married in 1935. He was manager of the Forbes Hotel until 1944 when he began working for General Mills, Inc. This job involved moves to Columbus, Ind., Bay City, Mich., Wadena and Crookston. He retired in 1976 after 32 years with General Mills and moved to Peoria, Ariz., in 1978. He was a 32nd degree Mason, and a member of the Kem Temple.
His remains will be taken to Wadena for interment at a later date. Survivors include his daughter, Connie (Joe) Abrook, of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada; son, Roger, of Minneapolis; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years.
