A Hope sign will once again be lit up with luminaries for the 2015 Wadena County Relay for Life at Sunnybrook Park.

Thousands of luminaries will line the paths of Sunnybrook Park Friday night into Saturday morning for this year's Wadena County Relay for Life.

Team members will take turns walking the paths throughout the night. Each luminaria is dedicated to survivors of cancer and in memories of those who lost the fight. The event is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, which spends donations on cancer research as well as lodging and transportation for cancer patients.

The event starts at 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14 at Sunnybrook Park in Wadena. The rain site is the Wadena Hockey Arena.

Store fronts in Wadena are decorated with purple this week to recognize the Relay for Life event this weekend.

Before the luminaries are lit Friday night there will be a ceremony to honor cancer survivors and remember those who have died from cancer.
