Cassandra Sue Steward, 44, of Wadena, is charged with theft - issuance of non-sufficient fund checks, a felony.
The Wadena Police Department received reports that more than 51 checks ranging from $12 to $496 were allegedly written by Steward at many different stores and many different cities. The total amount of the checks was more than $5,800 and included merchant fees for each check for insufficient funds for a total amount of more than $7,300.
The Wadena Police Department reports the checks were written between late April and June 2. Once the department learned of the alleged theft, Steward was arrested and later charged with felony theft.
