The Wadena County Jail was placed back on biennial inspection status due to improvement and effort shown during the past year, according to a recently released report by the Minnesota Department of Corrections. Several improvements listed in a comments section of the report were the remodeled work release locker room, camera system upgrades and an updated policy and procedure manual. The report also cited a policy requiring inmates to clean their housing units every day rather than just sleep all day as an example of improved inmate accountability.
A corrective action listed in the report recommended that additional cameras be installed in all of the housing units allowing the dispatcher to view the jailer completing well-being checks.
