Vivian Marie Rohr, 84, of Bluffton, passed away Feb. 26, 2009, at Tri-County Hospital in Wadena after a brief illness.
She was born February 20, 1925, in Frazee, the first child of Fred and Francis (Ulschmid) Palmer. She grew up on the family dairy farm and graduated from Frazee High School with the class of 1942.
She married Norbert Rohr of Detroit Lakes on Oct. 16, 1945. In 1956, she and Norbert moved their family from Frazee to a dairy farm they purchased near Bluffton. She played an active part in the farm and for several years had a weekly route in Wadena delivering the fresh eggs her hens produced, becoming known to some as "the egg lady." She was in charge of publicity for the Otter Tail County National Farmers Organization and, along with Norbert, was active in the organization at the county and state level throughout their farming and retirement years.
She attended St. John the Baptist Church and served as an officer in the Christian Mothers for many years. She helped start and organize the Bluffton Blazers 4-H Club and served as a parent leader. She volunteered in Bluffton Township on election nights and campaigned for candidates in the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party. She enjoyed her children and grandchildren, reading, gardening, sewing, animals, traveling and church events.
On Feb. 5, 2009, Norbert passed away due to heart failure in Fargo.
