A Verndale woman was charged in Wadena County District Court with having sex about a year ago with a 16-year-old boy who self-identified as gay.
According to court documents, the boy was dropped off by relatives at a trailer belonging to Tracy Lynn Cornelius on her birthday, Jan. 8, 2011. She was turning 48, and had friends over who were drinking and playing quarters. According to witnesses, Cornelius was aggressively pursuing the boy sexually, but he told her he was gay and in a relationship.
Court records said Cornelius took the boy into the bathroom and had intercourse with him, while one of the other partygoers pounded on the bathroom door. After about 15-30 minutes, Cornelius and the boy emerged and she bragged about the sexual encounter, according to court documents.
Cornelius was charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct and furnishing alcohol to a minor.
Her first court date was set for Jan. 30.
