A report of a grass fire near Verndale Sunday evening had emergency responders on site in a hurry.
The Verndale Fire Department arrived on scene and quickly started knocking down the fire near the intersection of County Road 1 and 161st Ave., just outside the city limits. Just smoke could be seen rising up from the ground to the rear of the outbuildings on the farm.
