A city council member in Verndale resigned at the July 3 meeting because he's moving away.
Todd Brenna offered his resignation, effective immediately. He's moving to Montana for a job.
"I've enjoyed my time and made some friends," Brenna said.
Mayor Wayne Stave praised Brenna for his service.
"I want to thank you for your time and your dedication," Stave said.

The term was set to expire Dec. 31, 2008. Stave said the city's procedure in this type of case is to appoint a council member to fill the seat until the next election. Someone will be elected to fill the final two years of the term.
Brenna said he came into office on the narrowest of margins.
"I won my first term with a coin toss," he said. "I'm leaving Verndale with a little history."
