Applications for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) are accepted year-round but Friday, Jan. 18 is the application cutoff by which a producer or landowner must submit a signed application to their Natural Resources Conservation Service office for Fiscal Year 2019 funding consideration.
Eligible applications will be ranked, and contracts will be awarded thereafter. Applications with higher quality and quantity of proposed conservation and environmental benefits receive higher scores. The highest-ranking applications are funded first. A second application cutoff is set for Friday, April 19.
The EQIP program provides financial and technical assistance to help landowners voluntarily implement conservation practices to improve natural resources. Payment is provided for a variety of practices to address resource concerns related to water quality, grazing land health, soil erosion and health, wildlife habitat and others.
