A Verndale man and a Wadena man face a felony charge for allegedly helping a fugitive evade police and later lying to police about the incident.

According to court documents, Lexis Jordan Powers, 18, was seen driving a car with a man wanted on felony arrest warrants. Kyle James Powers, 18, was also in the car, court documents said.

When police caught up with the vehicle, the wanted man wasn't in the car, and the two defendants told police he was never in the car.

Police later learned the wanted man was in the vehicle, and Lexis Powers pulled the car over to let the man flee on foot after being spotted by police, court documents said.

Each man was charged July 13 with aiding an offender on probation. The next court appearances for the two were set for Aug. 9.
