Two people are dead after their car was hit by a semitrailer late Monday on U.S. Highway 10 on the east edge of Perham, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The 1996 Ford semitrailer was traveling westbound on Highway 10 at about 11:30 p.m. when a 2008 Chevy Impala approaching a stop sign on Otter Tail County Road 80 pulled into the Ford's path and was struck in the driver-side door area. Both vehicles ended up in the median.
The Impala's driver and front passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. Their names are expected to be released later today.
The Perham Fire Department, Perham Ambulance, Perham and New York Mills police departments and Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene.
