Two people who were previously charged in Wadena County District Court with helping a fugitive evade arrest now face five counts of aiding an offender -- accomplice after the fact.
Lexis Jordan Powers, 18, of Verndale, and Kyle James Powers, 18, of Wadena, were charged July 19 in connection with the alleged theft of firearms from a Wadena residence. Joseph Gregory Mench has been charged with stealing the guns, and now the Powerses face crimes for allegedly helping him.
Their first appearance in Wadena County has been scheduled for Aug. 16. The two were previously charged July 13 with aiding an offender on probation, for allegedly helping Mench get away from police when he was spotted in a car with them by police.
