With the ideal weather for golfing swinging by, the Wadena-Deer Creek girls golf team did just that went golfing.
The Wolverines had a busy week hitting the links starting with the two-day Brainerd/Pequot Lakes Invitational on April 20-21.
The first day invitational action saw the Wolverines playing at The Preserve, where they finished 12th in a 13-team field with 427 points. Wolverine Tracy Gustafson led the team with 96, followed by Ashley Fix with 107; Katie Anderson, 111; Amy Brown, 113; Kayla Krause, 129; and Kayla Moorhead, 152.
Detroit Lakes led in the team standings after one day and were led by medalist Christine Herzogs one-over par 73. Mid-State foe Park Rapids was one stroke ahead of the Wolverines in the team standings with 426.
The Wolverines headed to The Pines for the second day of the invitational. After the scoring was added up, the Wolverines didnt budge from the standings as they combined for 870 points, still in 12th place.

Herzog won her second straight medalist honors by shooting three over for 75 for a total of 148 in the invitational. Detroit Lakes won the team title with 682, just four strokes ahead of runner-up Bemidji at 686. Wolverine girls scores for the second day were not available.
On Saturday, the Wolverines headed east once again, this time for the Cardinal Invitational at The Legacy-Bobbys Course. With a large number of teams participating, the Wolverines were sent to the second division made up of 10 teams.
Gustafson shot a 96 to lead the team and earned a medal with her ninth place tie. Armstrong won the division with a team low score of 353 and was led by medalist Sam Moskos 82. The Wolverines scored 455 and ended up in ninth place in the team standings.
Other Wolverines scoring were Fix with 109; Krause, 120; Anderson, 130; and Moorhead, 141.
Another busy week is shaping up for the girls golf team. On Tuesday, the Wolverines participated in the Crosby-Ironton Invitational and then play at the Bemidji Invitational Friday. They will close out the week on Saturday in Grand Rapids.
