Steve Techam was elected chairman of the Wadena-Deer Creek School Board following a reorganizational meeting on Jan. 9 at the WDC District Office.
Techam is a retired teacher who lives near Deer Creek.
Techam replaces Ann Pate, who will now serve as vice chair. John Moenkedick was elected to serve as clerk while Pete Hayes was elected treasurer.
Pate has been on the school board since 2003. Moenkedick and Wayne Perkins have served since 2007. Hayes, Techam and Dan Toedter have served on the board since 2008.
The board voted unanimously to not increase their stipend for the fourth year in a row.

School board meetings will begin at 6 p.m., starting in February. The board will continue to meet the third Monday of the month, except for the months of January and February, when the board meets on the third Tuesday of the month due to holidays. The meetings will be held in the WDC Elementary media center until the new school opens the fall 2012. The school board meetings will then move to the new Lecture Hall.
