Are you looking for an opportunity to share your talents with your community? For a volunteer opportunity with significant impact on your community? Local AARP tax coordinators are looking for volunteers with basic computer skills, a willingness to learn tax preparation basics and the software programs that compute them, and a commitment to four hours a week from February through April 2012 in their community.
If you aren't interested in volunteering for tax preparation, but you are interested in helping others in your community, Otter Tail Wadena Community Action could use your computer skills to screen clients for eligibility to energy assistance, food support and other programs at the tax sites.
Training and continual support is provided through AARP tax program instructors and Otter Tail Wadena Community Action. Last year, the free AARP tax sites returned $1,724,089 to the local economy through six sites in Wadena and Otter Tail counties. AARP tax programs are honored nationwide for highly accurate returns, and for e-filing for faster returns.
