Authorities are seeking a suspect in a robbery at knife point Monday near Menahga.

Around 9:43 Monday night, Wadena County sheriff's deputies responded to a report in Section 9 of Blueberry Township, where a 57-year-old woman was robbed as she was leaving her home to go to work, the sheriff's office said. The woman said the male suspect jumped out from behind a bush and put a knife to her throat, ordering her to the ground.

The suspect then demanded her purse, wallet and keys. After she gave them to him, the victim was led to a nearby outbuilding where she was again ordered to the ground and told to stay there or she would be killed, Sheriff Mike Carr said Tuesday.

The suspect fled on foot to a nearby wooded area with the purse and cash, Carr said. A Wadena County K-9 unit picked up the search there, and tracked a scent for several miles until the trail ended abruptly. Carr said a vehicle was seen leaving the area around the time of the crime.

The make or model of this vehicle is unknown, Carr said. Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to contact the Wadena County Sheriff's Office at (218) 631-7600. The victim was not able to identify the suspect at all due to darkness but stated he was possibly a medium build, 5 feet, 5 inches tall, and wearing a mask of some sort. A cash reward is being offered for anyone with leading to the arrest and conviction of this suspect(s).
