A Wadena man was released from jail on the condition he not contact the alleged victim in the case. That stipulation didn't survive the day.
According to Wadena County District Court records, Ronald Blair, 49, appeared before Judge Sally Robertson on the afternoon of Feb. 29 and pleaded guilty to felony domestic assault as part of a negotiated plea agreement. Pending sentencing, he was released with conditions, including having absolutely no contact with the victim.
But a Wadena police officer discovered that by that evening, a call had allegedly been placed from Blair to the victim lasting three minutes, 48 seconds. Another condition of Blair's release was that he abstain from alcohol. A preliminary breath test administered to him that night registered a blood alcohol content of .144.
Blair has previous domestic violence-related convictions from June 2008 and July 2008, according to court documents.
He was charged March 2 with a new crime: violate no contact order within 10 years of the first two or more, a felony-level offense.
