Each year during the last week of January, the National Catholic Educational Association and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops sponsor Catholic Schools Week to recognize the important role Catholic elementary and secondary schools across the country play in providing a values-based education for America's young people.

One purpose of Catholic Schools Week is to build community awareness of Catholic schools throughout the country. In the United States there are 7,378 Catholic schools: 6,165 elementary/middle schools and 1,213 secondary schools. These schools educate 2,270,913 students: 1,633,535 elementary/middle school students and 637,378 secondary students. Based on the average public school per pupil cost of $8,701, Catholic Schools provide our nation $19.8 billion in savings each year, as Catholic schools and their students do not receive this government money.

During Catholic Schools Week, individual dioceses and local Catholic schools develop and promote their own CSW activities and encourage parents to take full advantage of the benefits of local Catholic schools by enrolling their children in those schools. St. Ann's Catholic School is proud of the intellectual, spiritual, moral, physical, and social education it provides for its students. The school has a full slate of activities planned to celebrate this special week. For more information about Catholic Schools Week or enrolling in St. Ann's Catholic School, call Principal Eileen Weber at (218) 631-2631.
