Three Wadena business owners are running for two open seats in the city council, and Wadena's incumbent mayor faces a challenger for the general elections, to be held Nov. 6.
Voters not already registered in the city of Wadena may register on the day of the election and prove they live in the precinct from which they are voting.
According to a proof of residence document, voters may bring ID with their current name and address. A valid Minnesota driver's license, learner's permit, Minnesota ID card or receipt for any of the above will be accepted with a current name and address in the precinct. Additionally, Tribal ID will be accepted with current address, signature and picture. Band members are not required to live on a reservation in order to use a tribal identification card to prove residence.
Alternatively, voters may use a combination of photo ID with an outdated address or no address, plus a utility bill or fee statement with the current address.
Accepted Photo ID includes a Minnesota driver's license, Minnesota ID, passport, military ID, college ID or tribal ID. Expired ID is still accepted.
