Wadena-Deer Creek Public School Farm to School Program, under the direction of Food Service Director Sandie Rentz, Member Mary Ann Hagen, and U of M Extension Office Director Donna Anderson, brought a local treat to the cafeteria on Monday, Sept. 27. Fourth-graders were in charge of shucking sweet corn from the Gregg and Joan Goeden farm, just west of Wadena. The cleaned corn will then be served to students and staff the following day. Students are part of a grant where local fruits and vegetables are brought in and made available to all students for their afternoon snack as well.
