Investigators believe a grass fire north of Wadena may have been intentionally set.
The Wadena County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a grass fire in section 32 of Leaf River Township, north of Wadena, on Friday, Dec. 2.
Upon the deputy's arrival, the fire had spread from the grasses and was in the pine trees on the property. The fire was extinguished by the fire department before it was able to reach a house and outbuilding of rural Wadena.
The fire is under investigation and it is believed was intentionally set with the use of fireworks. A dark-colored, four-door car was seen in the area just before the smoke and flames were reported to authorities.
