STEP (Stimulating Economic Progress) announced an upcoming free seminar for persons interested in creating or expanding a food production business.

On Nov. 2, M State Business and Entrepreneurial Services in Detroit Lakes will host the Food Entrepreneur Assistance Program, conducted by experts from The Food Processing Center of the University of Nebraska.

Topics include market research, product development, packaging, labeling, pricing, product introduction, promotional materials, food safety, legal and business structure.

Presenters will discuss answers to your questions: How do I start a food company? How do I start selling my family recipes for salsa, BBQ sauce, salad dressing, jams or jellies to stores? How do I add value to foods I am growing on my farm? Can I sell products broadly that I now sell at farmers markets? Anyone asking these questions will benefit from this one-day education conference. A year's worth of study is packed into one conference.

For complete information, contact Jacqueline Bennett, M-State Business & Entrepreneurial Services, (218) 844-5420, or e-mail Jacqueline.Bennett@minnesota.edu .
