Steve Schulz has been named the publisher of the Wadena Pioneer Journal.
Schulz has been the editor of the newspaper since May 2006, and has served as general manager on an interim basis since March 2009.
He was previously the managing editor of the Fergus Falls Daily Journal, the editor of the Perham Enterprise Bulletin, the station manager of the Lakes 99-5 radio in Perham, and the news director of the Lakes Radio group in Fergus Falls.
"While this is certainly a challenging economy and a time of transition in the newspaper business, I believe in our newspaper, our staff and the Wadena-area communities we serve and I see a bright future," Schulz said.
Schulz will serve in the dual roles of publisher and editor for the paper.
