Sanfield Lowell Dean Forseth, 69, of Pinellas Park, Fla., and formerly of Indian Shores, Fla., died Feb. 11, 2006, at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, Fla.
He was born April 25, 1936, in Williston, Williams County, N.D., to Sigvald Arne and Lillie Virginia Mattson Forseth of Athens Township, N.D. He was baptized at the East Fork Norwegion Lutheran Church in 1936 and confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in 1951 at First Lutheran church in Williston, N.D., by Pastor Casper B. Nervig. He attended school at Central Elementary, Williston Junior High School and graduated in 1954 from Williston High School. He earned a bachelor of science in electrical engineering from Northwestern University in 1958 and was an active member of Northwesterns Triangle Fraternity of Engineers and Architects from 1955. He received a master of science in electrical engineering from the University of Minnesota in 1969. After college graduation, he worked as an electrical engineer for Honeywell Corp. in Minneapolis. In 1970, he was transferred to Honeywells plant in Largo, Fla., where he worked as an aerospace/avionics engineer until his retirement in the late 1990s. He was known as a respected contributor to many projects involving space exploration and national defense. He married Sonia Marie Daleki of Minneapolis on Aug. 6, 1960, at the Church of Holy Cross in Minneapolis. They had three sons. They divorced in 1975. He married Sylvia Ann Schlegel of Clinton, Mass., on July 15, 1983, on Indian Rocks Beach, Fla. She died on April 20, 2003. He had an association of more than 30 years with barbershop quartet singing choruses in Minneapolis, Pinellas County, Fla., and Tampa, Fla. He participated in competitions as a member of a quartet and the full chorus. He enjoyed scuba diving, cruises and crossword puzzles.
His memorial service was March 4 at Taylor Funeral Home in Pinellas Park, Fla.
Survivors include three sons, Sanfield Jr. of Pinellas Park, Fla., Scott L. of Largo, Fla., and Stephan P. of Albany, N.Y.; two sisters, Darlene E. Leinen of Williston, N.D., and Marilyn J. Nervig of Wadena; and one grandson.
